Ozzy Osbourne wants to duet with Paul McCartney: “It’s about time”

Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he is itching to duet with The Beatles legend Paul McCartney.

Speaking on the latest episode of SiriusXM’s Ozzy Speaks, Osbourne sat down with co-host Billy Morrison and opened up about his lengthy career thus far. When Morrison asked, “Are there people that you’d like to do a duet with?” the musician replied almost instantly: “Paul McCartney.”

Morrison didn’t seem surprised by this answer, then revealing, “We’ve put that out into the ether before and I think it’s good that we have this show so we can both say, ‘Paul, if you’re listening, it’s about time.’”

However, the ‘Prince of Darknes;s quickly admitted, “I would be honoured, but I couldn’t.” To his humble utterance, Morrison encouraged the musician to “put it out into the Universe, you never know.”

The pair then discussed how McCartney was previously “happy to meet” Osbourne, who then commented that he was “a really nice man,” in juxtaposition to Osbourne’s stormy countenance.

Osbourne and Morrison then talked up the vocal skills needed to match the way McCartney sings. Talking on harmonies, Osbourne doubted his own abilities, but Morrison reminded him that when he sang ‘Crack Cocaine’ he had incredible vocal dexterity.

“Sometimes I can. Sometimes I can,” Osbourne continued. “I’ve been studying the Beatles and Paul had the high notes, but Lennon had the low harmony and I thought, ‘Fuck me. I always go high.’”

The musician is currently preparing for his huge farewell show in Birmingham on July 5th, though he has cast doubts over health issues that may impede the performance. Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Tony Iommi will perform together as a four-piece for the first time in 20 years at the show, with support from Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Mastodon, and more.
